Freddie was the eleventh of thirteen children born to Katie and Huston Thompson.
She passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014; at Specialty Healthcare in South Bend, IN.
She moved to South Bend, IN; in 1947 as the new bride of Purvis Kennedy, who preceded her in death on June 2, 2012, following 64 years of marriage.
Freddie was a faithful member of Grace A. M. E. Zion Church until failing health prevented her attendance.
She was a retiree of Wells Manufacturing.
In addition to her husband, Freddie was preceded in death by parents, Huston and Katie (Taylor) Thompson; sons, Graydell and Purvis, Jr.; and daughter, Helen Joyce. A grandson, John Westly Johnson, Jr., and LaRaya Renee' Shaw, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughters, Bobbie Maxine (Abraham) Potts of Starkville, MS; and Cathy Lewis of South Bend, IN; and a sister, Agnes Ashford of Detroit, Ml; along with (6) grandchildren, (16) great-grandchildren, and (18) great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Kennedy is at 12 noon Wednesday, with visitation one
an hour before the service at Cobb Funeral Home, 3525 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN.
Burial in Riverview Cemetery.
