Mr. Russell Eric Hawkins, age 41, of Hays, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his home. He was born January 1, 1973 in Wilkes County to Steve and Janice Key Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church and supervisor of sanitation for the Town of North Wilkesboro for 19 years. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Charles Hawkins; maternal grandparents, Vernon and Faye Elledge Key; aunt, Ann Byrd; and uncle, Kenny Key.
Surviving are his father, Steve Hawkins of Hays; his mother, Janice Key Hawkins of Hays; his son, Tyler Hawkins of Jonesville; paternal grandmother, Ruby Hawkins, North Wilkesboro; three uncles, Vaughn Key, Bobby Hawkins, David Hawkins all of North Wilkesboro; six aunts, Pat Arlene Niston of Yadkinville, Marilyn Hunter of North Wilkesboro, Irene Blevins of Wilkesboro, Rita Pruitt of North Wilkesboro, Shirlene Severt of Millers Creek, Brenda Miller of Kernersville.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 o'clock Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Boyce Cleary and Rev. Ronnie Millsaps officiating. Burial will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock on Thursday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Neal Blevins, Wesley Blevins, Shannon Key, Darrel Byrd, Earl Byrd and Derrick Byrd.
