Lucy Ann Coley was the daughter of Albert Coley and Elizabeth Morgan Coley. She was born in 1845 near Boydton, Virginia. She had one son Joseph Benjamin Coley but was never married. She spent many years working for the Cumbia family of Brodnax, Virginia as a much loved housekeeper. She died on January 30, 1935 in Brodnax, Virginia and was buried in the Cumbia family cemetery.
