BRENTWOOD — Charles Byron Ireland, 85, of 117 North Road, formerly of 4 Pine Crest Park, Exeter, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

He was born June 19, 1915, in Lincoln, Maine, the son of the late Goodin and Hillary (McAlpine) Ireland, and moved to the seacoast area in 1950.

He was educated in Lincoln schools.

Mr. Ireland was a plumber.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Judy Holmes; one daughter, Carol Sawyer of Hampton; one stepson, Earl Holmes; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Blanche Tolman of Lincoln, Maine.

He was predeceased by one brother, David Ireland; and one sister, June Sawyer.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Lincoln.

Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
