ODESSA William Francis Fikes, 72, of Odessa, passed away January 7, 2008, at his residence. He was born on January 26, 1935, in Little Rock, Ark., to Edwin Lloyd Fikes and Eula Elizabeth Pennington Fikes.
William was raised in Snyder, TX. He worked in the oilfield in West Texas since 1967. He was also a minister and was a member of Dunn Baptist Church in Odessa, TX. He was a loving single father who loved to spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Lloyd Fikes and his mother, Eula Elizabeth Pennington Fikes; a daughter, Claudie Sue Fikes; a son, Alvie Fikes; four sisters, Ettie Lee, Ramona Carlson, Maxine Fikes and Pauline Fikes; and stepmother, Vivian Fikes; two brothers, Bill Halpaine and Don Halpaine, He is survived by his brothers, Lloyd Fikes of Lubbock, Joe Lee Halpaine of Lake Dallas, TX, and Jack Halpaine of Lubbock; sisters, Debra Cheney of Hewitt, TX, Faydale Christian of Clarkville, Ark, Judy Schwab of Sunnyville, CA; daughters, Dianne Fikes of Lakewood CA, Kathy Fitzpatrick of Odessa and Michelle Willeby of Odessa; two sons, William Fikes Jr. of Odessa and Doyle Fikes of Odessa; and 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services will be held on January 10, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Fikes officiating. Interment with Military Honors with VFW Post No. 4372 will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
