According to his United States military record ("Union") in the National Archives, Franklin P. Anderson, 1827-1898, was born in Grayson County, Virginia. A recent DNA test of his descendant matches other Andersons in Grayson County, Virginia for additional corroborating evidence. The Grayson County, Virginia Andersons had relatives that went through Hawkins Co., TN (to go around the mountain) to Lee County, Virginia--meaning they most likely went the south route through Wilderness Gap.
The DNA suggests Franklin P. Anderson had Swedish origins prior to 1700. The group of Andersons in Grayson County, Virginia trace back to the mid-1700s in or near New Castle, Delaware or immediately across the river at Swedish landing points.
William I. Anderson, born 1814, would only have been 13 when Franklin P. Anderson was born, suggesting William I. Anderson should be struck from the record as a parent to Franklin P. Anderson. The William I. Anderson line goes
back the northern route from Augusta County, Virginia to Kentucky and is of English/Scottish origin. This means there is no tie of any kind to William I. Anderson, born 1814.
