Pfc. Dale C Bard, son of Mr and Mrs Harlen Bard, Route 3 Gladwin, is now on duty with the Chinese Combat Command, the United States Army organization working in the field with the Chinese Army to increase their effectiveness against the Japanese invaders. He arrived in China with the American 475th Infantry Regiment when most of that organization was flown from Burma by the Air Transport Command, it has been revealed by Lieut. Gen. A. C. Wedemeyer, commander of all American forces in China Theater. Bard who graduated from high school at Beaverton, in 1939, was inducted into the service in March, 1943, and took his basic training at Fort Reno, Oklahoma. He arrived in India, in September, 1944. Having seen action with Mars Task Force, he is entitled to wear the Combat Infantryman's Badge and a campaign star on his Asiatic-Pacific ribbon. Gladwin County Record 8/8/1945

Miss Evelyn Conrad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville G. Conrad and Dale C. Bard, of Gladwin were united in marriage Saturday afternoon, June 8. The marriage took place at the Baptist church with the Rev. C. F. Olin officiating in the presence of 35 guests. Miss Elsie Sayler was maid of honor and Carl Belert acted as best man. Dale C. Bard, 53, of Auburn, died suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Clare on March 3, 1923, he had moved to Auburn nine years ago from Beaverton. Mr. Bard was a foreman for Roy Craft Industry of Chesaning. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the White Pine American Legion. He and the former Evelyn Conrad were married on June 8, 1946, in Gladwin. Besides his wife, he is survived by his father, Harlan of Beaverton; his mother, Mrs. Daisy Maltby of Lapeer; 3 sons, Kevin in the U.S. Army in Germany, Colin and Byron of Auburn; 4 daughters, Mrs. Darla Burns of Grand Blanc, Mrs. Ronda Glazier of Freeland, Mrs. Myrna Brief of Midland, and Sheli of Auburn; 3 half-sisters, Mrs. Nona Swikoski of Gladwin, Mrs. Teene Miske of Colorado and Toni Bard of Beaverton; 3 half-brothers, Danny and Harlan Scott of Texas and Robin of Beaverton. Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Elder Donn Pendleton officiated and burial was in Midland Memorial Gardens. Gladwin County Record 10/27/1975
