WINSTON-SALEM—Mrs. Rebecca Langdon Nance, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at her home. She was born on October 13, 1928 in Wake County, NC to Ralph Edward Langdon and Mary Adams Stewart Langdon. Rebecca graduated from Mars Hill College in 1949. She grew up in Fayetteville, NC and that is where she met the love of her life, Ed Nance. She was an active member of D.A.R.. She also served on the Executive Board and was a former President of the State Woman's Missionary Union. Rebecca was a long-time Sunday School teacher in various Baptist churches. In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by a brother, Truett Langdon. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ed Nance of the home; children, Mary Susan Nance (Bill Davis) of Greenville, NC, Brenda Peoples of Winston-Salem, and Michael Nance (Leigh) of Belmont, NC; grandchildren, Benjamin Swing, Stewart Swing, Mary Nance, and Craig Nance; two brothers, Ralph Hunter Langdon (Mafalda) of Southern Pines, NC and Phillip Langdon of Southport, NC. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Dan Swan officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
