SUSAN E. GEORGE (nee MARDIS), age 59, of Michigan City, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014. Sue was born on November 14, 1954 in Middletown, Ohio. She had been a lifetime area resident and worked as a waitress. Sue will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt and friend. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Martha Mardis. She is survived by her 6 brothers and sisters, Anna Booth of Montevallo, AL, Alice Valpatic of Whitestown, Rich (Ruth) Mardis of Valparaiso, Aletria Mardis-Storkman of Hobart, David Mardis of Portage, Ronald (Jennifer) Mardis of Michigan City; 19 nephews and nieces; 24 great nephews and great nieces. Visitation will be Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 2-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel , 5341 Central Ave., Portage. A service for Sue will be Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
