Leslie was the daughter of Barbara and Jonathan Ford, formerly of Middlefield, Ohio. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and lived with her family in Recife, Brazil, before the family relocated to Ohio, when Leslie was 12. She graduated from the Laurel School for Girls, Colby Junior College, and received her B.A. from Boston University. She received a Masters in Public Health at Columbia University. She served as a Research Assistant in the Psychology Department at Dartmouth College, was a co-founder of the Rio Women's Health Collective in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and until recently served as President of the Board of the Littleton Studio School.
Leslie's passions were her family, her horses (she rode with the Spring Valley Hounds in New Jersey, the Chagrin Valley Hunt in Ohio, co-founded by her grandfather, Horatio Ford, and the North Country Hounds), pottery (she was a member of the NH Potter's Guild), and carrying on the growing of daylilies, an interest she adopted from her father.
Leslie was a loving and caring friend to people she met wherever she lived, from her school days in Ohio to Hanover, Rio, New Vernon, NJ, and recently, the North Country.
Leslie is survived by her husband Jeffrey, and lives on through her loving daughters, Cecily Yarosh of Landaff and Hallie Birmingham of Portland, Maine (both born while she and Jeffrey were living in Rio), as well as her grandchildren, Hazel and William Yarosh. Her parents are deceased. She has a sister Victoria, of North Carolina, and two nieces.
