He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol A. (Carney) Coolidge; a son, Mark A. Coolidge and his wife Sandra of Jefferson; a daughter, Christine M. Jones-Shepard and her husband Michael of Paxton; five grandchildren, Devon, Madison, Nichole, Christopher and Sarah; a great-granddaughter, Daeyani; a brother, Walter Coolidge of Leominster; a sister, Frances White of Norway, ME; several nephews and nieces; and his "best friend and companion", his dog Hannah.
Alan graduated from Wachusett High School in 1959. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963 and worked at Norton Company for 36 years, retiring as a Production Supervisor in 1999. After retirement, he was a bus driver and bus monitor for Robert L. McCarthy & Sons Bus Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden, enjoyed spending summers in York, Maine, puttering around his yard, reading and spending time with his family.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Alan will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13th, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Veteran's Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605; or the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522.
