Funeral Service Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo, IA 50701.
Harold Irvin Oliver was born January 25 1934, in Rockford, Illinois, to Bridget (O'Day) Oliver. On August 23, 1956, he married Ruth Ann Miller and together they had 7 children. Harold worked for John Deere retiring after 31 years of service. He then worked at the All-Stop Car Wash in Waterloo.
Harold enjoyed hunting, golfing, stock car racing and fishing with his home made jigs. His children and grandchildren knew that they could ask Harold any question and he would have an answer for them due to his love of reading. He loved his Irish heritage and even travelled to Dublin to walk in the footsteps of his ancestors. Most of all, however, Harold enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren in their sporting activities!
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stacey Jo Oliver (in childhood); and brother Don Oliver.
He is survived by 6 of his children: Pam Oliver of Waterloo, Harold (Glenda) Oliver, Jr. of Evansdale, Teresa (Brian) Thompson of Evansdale, Patricia (Jeffrey) Dotson of Waterloo, Rhonda (Wade) Wiese of New Hartford and James (Marvolene) Oliver of Evansdale; 13 grandchildren Joshua Oliver, Isiah Oliver, Kortni Oliver, Kelli Oliver, Johnathon Thompson, Michael Thompson, Meghan Thompson, Brandon Dean, Curtis Breitbach, Lana Dotson, Skyler Wirtz, Patrick Oliver and Alex Oliver; 4 great-grandchildren Dylan, Tatum, Caylor and Logan; two brothers Les Oliver and Jerry Oliver and a sister, Elsie Crosby.
