Leo John Marentette Jr., age 73, of Lambertville, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, Thursday morning, May 8, 2014, in his home. Leo was born February 18, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to Leo John Sr. and Claire (Meskey) Marentette. He was a 1959 graduate of Wayne High School and worked 29 years for Roadway.

Leo played professional Baseball from 1960 to 1970 for the Toledo Mud Hens, Detroit Tigers and Montreal Expos. He's the only pitcher to have won a game in each of the two playoff appearances the Mud Hens made in the 60s (1967-1968).

Leo regularly attended Crossroads Community Church. His favorite pastime was trying his luck playing poker at the Casino and hanging out at the mall with his friends. He enjoyed deer hunting and watching TV.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 19 years, Dawn; son, Leo John Marentette III; daughter, Beth (Steve) Fosgate; granddaughters, Lydia Marentette and Ally Fosgate; brothers, Tom (Terry) Marentette and Mike Marentette; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Roger Drew; brothers-in-law, Doug Kline and Dan (Lynn) Kline; step sisters-in-law, Shirley (Jim) Tripplett and Catherine (Tom) Werment; and four-legged companions, Brandy and Reagan.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, 6960 Sylvania-Petersburg Rd., Ottawa Lake, MI 49267, where services celebrating Leo's life will be held Wednesday, May 14, at 11 a.m. Following a luncheon, graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at East Swanton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
