Natalie Eva Ryan, age 82, of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Natalie was born December 15, 1920 in Hooker, Oklahoma to Milton Matthew and Alma Grace (West) Gore. Natalie graduated the Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas, she taught in the Dallas, Texas school system. On April 19, 1952 Natalie married Lawrence Ryan in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Holy Family Cathedral. He preceded her in death March 11, 2003. Natalie and her husband lived in Independence, Kansas three separate times. The last time they moved to Independence in 1979 they decided to retire here. Upon retiring in 1979 Natalie assisted Father James Wilson by organizing the St. Andrews School Library. She selected the books, did the arranging, indexing and served as librarian for that year 1979. She was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Chapter DA PEO; Daughters of the American Revolution and the Independence Museum. Survivors include two daughters Mary Catherine and husband Steve Hardesty of Wichita, Kansas and Rebecca and husband Bill Freeman of McKinney, Texas; and six grandchildren. One brother Milton Gore of Kansas, Oklahoma and One sister Betty Marshall of Oakland, Maine. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with the Father Stephen Thapwa. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2003 at the Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home.
