Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Obituary:

Gordon Ray Bergholz, son of the late Willard Gordon and Vera Mae (Carpenter) Bergholz, was born on September 21, 1937 in Burr, Nebraska, and passed away on March 13, 2014 at his residence north of Norwood, Missouri.

Gordon grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Syracuse High School in 1955.

After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for three years. He then moved to California where he met Vera Hill. They were married in December 1968.

Gordon worked at Hollywood Ford in California as a mechanic. They left California in 1971 and moved to Rogersville, Missouri, where he worked as a mechanic at Friendly Ford in Springfield, Missouri. Later, in 1978, they moved to Norwood, Missouri, and became dairy farmers. Gordon also worked for Frank Bolt at Bolt's Garage in Mountain Grove, Missouri as a mechanic.

Gordon greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He also loved horses and enjoyed riding whenever he could. He always had projects to work on and enjoyed making things for his family and friends.

Besides his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by a sister: JoAnn Marie Stodder; and a step-daughter: Patsy Ransom.

Gordon is survived by his wife: Vera Bergholz; four sisters-in-law: Marjorie Hylton and husband Jack, Marilyn Walker, Linda Solovic and husband Ray, and Katie Estes and husband Travis; one brother-in-law: J.D.Hill; one step-daughter: Linda McGowan; one step-son-in-law: Craig Ransom; four grandsons: Jason and Shane Hylton, and Troy and Ryan Ransom; eleven great-grandchildren; a special nephew: Randy Stoddard; and other family and friends who will dearly miss him.
