Gary Neslen Ludwig passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 9, 2014, at Intermountain Medical Center, finally warm under layers of heated blankets. He had braved ten years of intestinal cancer without allowing the malady to compromise his appetite for family celebration dinners with abundant home cooking.

Gary's generous heart for both cats and fellow travelers who needed a comfortable home was an identity piece. Over the course of his faithful membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gary completed a full-time mission in Germany, served for ten years as a temple worker, and accomplished heroic quantities of genealogical research.

Gary is survived by his brother, Robert Ludwig; and sister, Donna Ludwig Reeves. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Frederick Ludwig and Francis Neslen Ludwig; a brother, William Ludwig; and a sister, Marilyn Ludwig Kipp. Generations of nieces and nephews will miss his informed conversation, charming sense of humor, endearing personality, and legendary appetite.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in the Crestview Chapel, 2795 East Crestview Drive, Salt Lake City. There will be a viewing held one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City.
