Funeral services for George Walker Addis will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Dingler officiating. Interment will be at Floyd Memory Gardens.

Mr. Addis, 76, of 8 Worsham St. died Monday at his residence after a short illness.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1918 in Oconee County, S.C., son of the late Lester Addis and Mae Chandler Addis. He was a longtime resident of Rome and was a member of the Church of God. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a construction worker and was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge No. 92 F and AM and the American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5. He was married on Oct. 10, 1988 to the former Wilma Poole.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Martha Jean Nicholson, Seneca, S.C., Brenda Ellenburg, Walhalla, S.C.; three sons, Walker L. Addis, Panama City, Fla., Randall Addis, Saulsbury, N.C., Don Addis, Muscogee, Okla; two sisters, Nellie McCall, Statesville, N.C. and Dorothy Reid of Walhalla; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
