Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m., at the Lovejoy Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carey Ingram and other ministers officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The body will be placed in the church on Friday at noon to lie in repose until the service hour. The family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Glenda and Eddie Harris at 710 Wilkerson Road. The family will assemble at the home at 5 Glover St. on Friday, at 12;30 P.M. to process to the church.
Hugh Montgomery, a native of Floyd County, was born Feb. 28, 1916, son of the late Miles and Lillie Branham Mongomery. At an early age, he joined Mt. Zion C.M.F. Church where he served faithfully until failing health. He later attended Lovejoy Baptist Church with his wife and family. He was united in Holy matrimony in 1938 to Zula Mae Favors. To this union five children were born. His loving and devoted wife and only son, Archie "Sonny" Montgomery preceded him in death. Seven brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, four daughters, Glenda (Eddie) Harris, Janice (Roy) Hudson, and Sandra Montgomery Mayes, all of Rome and Jannette Wright of Centre, Ala.; one sister, Alberta McDonel of Detroit, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; Natasha, Kerry, Gregory, Monica, Sonya, Ben, Andre, Chad, Shane, Terron and Kendra; 18 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Lorena Montgomery; one sister-in-law, Lilian Montgomery and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank a cousin, Willie Nelson Robinson and a friend, Willie Turner for their devotion and care to Hugh during his failing health.
