Dr. Katherine Eager Bowdle died
Friday, 16 Feb, 1940 at her home
in East Ely, after an illness of
seven years.

She was born at Grouse Creek,
Utah, August 11, 1883, daughter
of Nahum and Ellen (Bartlett) Eager.
She attended Salt Lake City schools
and in 1903 graduated from St.
Marks Training School for nurses.

She then accepted a position on
the nursing staff of the Utah Copper
Company offices in Salt Lake
City, where she remained until
1905 when she entered the School
of Medicine at Ann Arbor, Mich.

In 1909 she received her doctors
degree and returned to Salt Lake
City, where she continued her
profession until her marriage
October 15, 1913, to Dr. Ralph A.
Bowdle.

Dr. and Mrs. Bowdle moved to
Ely in June, 1916, where Dr. Ralph
Bowdle accepted the position of
Chief Surgeon at Steptoe Valley
Hospital. Dr. Katherine Bowdle was for
many years in charge of the nurses
at the hospital. She was instrumental
in the operation and administration
of the facility until ill health
forced her to resign about 1933.

She was survived by her husband,
three sisters, Mrs. Mable Barnard
of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Mary Johnson
of Pomona, Calif., and Mrs.
Lucy Lehr of Allentown, Penn.,
one brother, Jonathan H. Eager of Ely,
and several nieces and nephews. She
had no children.

Funeral services were held
Sunday Feb 18,1940 at the Wilson-
Bates chapel in Ely, and the body was
accompanied to Salt Lake City to be
placed in a mausoleum.
