It has been understood for some weeks past that our esteemed fellow-citizen of Clarkstown, Mr. John D. Pye has been gradually failing, in consequence of an inward disease of an incurable nature. It was with surprise and pain that we heard on Sabbath morning last that he had expired on the previous day. Mr. Pye has been long known as an upright industrious man who enjoyed the confidence of all who knew him. He is cut off in the midst of his days, and of a life of uninterrupted health until the disease assailed him which proved fatal. His funeral was attended on Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock from his late residence. Rev. Mr. Quick, of Clarkstown, and the Rev. Mr. Freemann, of Haverstraw, officiated on the occasion. A large attendance was present.
