Apparently there is also an error in the obituary, as the names of his parents are reportedly incorrect. According to the 1920 Census, John Baggett was living in Murray County, Georgia, along with his two sons, Cecil Baggett, born in 1911 and Eugene Baggett, born in 1914. John's wife had died.
Sometime after the Census in 1920, he married Susan I. "Sudie" Gothard Alexander, who had children by a previous marriage.
John & Sudie Baggett also showed up in the 1930 Census for Hamilton County, Tennessee. Cecil & Eugene Baggett & Woodrow Alexander were living in the household, with Winifred Alexander living next door with his wife.
Mattie White Baggett is still believed to be Eugene & Cecil's mother, despite the fact that she was listed on John's death certificate as his (John's) mother. Family members believe that was another mistake. Mattie White Smith Baggett is listed on Cecil's & Eugene's obit as their mother.
