HERKIMER-Betsy B. Adams age 86 of Bellinger Avenue passed away peacefully on Sunday February 9, 2014 in her home. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
She was born on October 2, 1927 in Lexington, VA, daughter of the late Seymour and Ada Frazier Brown. Betsy was raised in Lexington and was a graduate of Lexington High School. She furthered her education graduating from Farmville Teachers College.
On June 19, 1948 she was united in marriage with Newell E. Adams in the Presbyterian Church of Lexington. In 1955 they moved to Herkimer coming from Lexington.
A sales clerk for more than twenty-five years, Betsy was that friendly face and warm smile that greeted everyone who dealt at Hummel's Office Supply in Herkimer.
Mrs. Adams had a strong faith in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls. She was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4915 Ladies Auxiliary. To all who knew her, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She will be truly missed.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Thomas S. and Ann Adams of Herkimer, Timothy N. and Marla Adams of Little Falls, one brother, Joseph Brown and his wife of Lexington, VA, five grandchildren, James Adams, Kristopher Adams, Cody Adams, Brandon Adams, Stephanie Adams-Holden five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews including a special nephew Samuel Zimmerman and cousins.
A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Adams will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery later this spring at a time to be announced.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Alisha LaQuay and Connie Huyck for the love and devotion in caring for Betsy.
