Preston D. Pevehouse was the son of John & Martha Roberts Pevehouse of Arkansas & Fort Bend & Montgomery Counties, Texas and the husband of Margaret Ann Davlin of Montgomery County, Texas.
Preston Pevehouse's maternal grandfather Andrew Roberts was among Texas' "Old Three Hundred," one of the 297 families who came with Stephen Fuller Austin in 1825 to settle a colony in Coahuila, Mexico that later became the Republic of Texas. Preston's paternal grandfather Jacob Pevehouse was also an early settler in the Republic of Texas in the 1830s.
Between April 1862 and 1865 Preston Pevehouse fought for the CSA, in Company E of the 13th Texas Volunteers in the Infantry, later discharged because of rheumatism. He was also a cowboy who herded cattle along the Chisholm Trail to Kansas.
His daughter Lucy's obituary states he was a native of Houston who once owned considerable land in downtown Houston near the turning basin and also in Conroe.
He and Margaret Ann Davlin Pevehouse were the parents of Lucy, Mary Jane, Martha, Sarah Adelaid, Ella, Matilda Ann, John Thomas, Nelson, Preston David, Jr., Margaret Malinda, and James Pevehouse.

Pevehouse is a German surname that was originally Bibighaus and later Bewighouse in Pennsylvania colonial records.Preston D. Petty
