Master Electrician, WWII Veteran, Mason

Oldest son of Pleasant Ann Tipps & Marvin Harrison McNatt Sr.

Sid was named for his paternal grandfather, Dr. Arthur Sylvester McNatt. However, the spelling of his middle name was changed by his mother. She called him "Sylvesta" until the day she died.

Spouse: Margaret Neil, June 5, 1935, Collin county, Texas

1 daughter Shirley Ann

Spouse: Barbara Evelyn McGee, Nov. 11, 1956, Kaufman County, Texas.

1 daughter: Debra Ann

27 Jun 1957 - living in Freeport, Texas. Hurricane Audrey passed the middle Texas coast as a catagory 2 storm. The storm came together so quickly, it was never given a TD/TS number. Later that evening the storm went ashore as a cat 4 near Port Arthur. Sid was living in a beach house at Surf Side. He saved the lives of his niece and nephew by wading out holding them both. I'll never know how he managed. Because he did, I can write this memorial, Thanks Uncle.

Sid played baritone saxophone and had a beautiful tenor voice. He entertained weekly on a local Greenville, Texas radio show. His theme song was "I'm Sittin' on Top of the World".

Antidote: Well known in his home town for his talents, his mother encouraged him to entertain at the Spring Methodist Women's Auxiliary Tea and Bazaar of 1934. Sid was not interested. His mother was tenacious and he finally agreed. As he took the podium that beautiful spring day, he announced to all the ladies; "I would like to publicly apologize to my mother for what I am about to do." Sid, preceded to play and sing. He played his saxophone and sang his best rendition of the ever popular, "Saint Louis Blues". Where by, his mother promptly resigned as the President of the Methodist Women's Aux. and Sid was never asked to perform again!
