Major League Baseball Player. Born Ladislaw Waldemar Wittkowski. Professional baseball player. Utility player for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1916-1921. He was purchased for the 1922 season by the New York Yankees where he played centerfield until 1925. In his first two years with the Yankees, he played in two World Series; losing in 1921 against the New York Giants and beating them the next. He had 10 hits in both Series. The next year he played his last season with Brooklyn Robins. In 10 years, he batted .287 with 1,195 hits and 18 home runs.
