Graveside services for Nollis E. Rogers were held Jan. 7, at Desert View Cemetery. Pastor Fred Harris officiated.

Nollis Edward "Jess" Rogers was born February 5, 1920 in Iowa Parks, Texas. He served in the US Air Force as a demolitions expert, entering into the service in September 1942, and spent 2 years in England. He left the service with an honorable discharge in January of 1946. He worked for Frisco Railroad in Clinton, Oklahoma.

He met and married his wife of 56 years, Ida Bell Dodd on July 23, 1949, in Hobart, Oklahoma. They moved to Arizona in 1952 and he worked for Santa Fe Railroad as brakeman until he retired in July 1981.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, as well as a member of the NRA, UTU 113, and A.A.R.P. He was a loving and kind person, always ready to help anyone in need and gave to many people, because of the love of Jesus Christ that was in heart. Nollis will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Ida Bell Rogers; son, Fred (Bobbie) Andrew Rogers of Show Low; daughter-in-law Debbie Rogers; sister Avis Bartlett of California, Della Cranford of Texas; four grandchildren, Jason, Traci, Elizabeth and Jonathan; and five great-grandchildren, Sheridan, Andrew, Samantha, Brendon and Ethan.

He was preceded in death by a son, Darrel Edward Rogers; a brother Andrew Rogers and a sister Maymi Freeman.
