Joan Annette Hopp, 73 of Cloquet passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in her home. She was born November 23, 1940 in Blackhoof to Robert and Hilma Hammitt. Joan graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1958. On June 28, 1958 she married Ronald Hopp in Wrenshall.

Joan worked for many years at City National Bank, Cloquet Implement, Spies Super Valu, and retired from Potlatch.

Joan enjoyed the arts. She painted many beautiful paintings in oils, and numerous chalk and pencil drawings . She also enjoyed traveling and wintering in Casa Grande, Arizona for the past seven winters.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; nephew, Steven Green; and her parents.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her three children, Cheryl (Jeff) Fisher of Carlton, Craig Hopp of Cloquet, and Patti (Russell) Thompson of Barnum; special friend and companion, Merlin Zimmerman of Cloquet; sisters, Jeanette Green of Golden Valley and Janice (Jack) Dahl of Wrenshall; brothers, Roger (Barbara) Hammitt of So. St. Paul and Burdette (Margaret) Hammitt of Calgary, Canada; grandchildren, Derek McKibbon, Ashley (Jake) Winchell, Megan Johnson, Cameron (Stacey Hess) Johnson, and Kyle Burggraff; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Valerie (Steve Johnson) Green; her special canine friend, Katie; and many close and special friends.

Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Carlton.
