Judy Sloan age 69 of Brooklyn, Iowa and formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Wednesday at Brooklyn Community Estates in Brooklyn, Iowa. Interment in the Calvary Cemetery in Victor, Iowa.

Judith Ann Thys was the daughter of Leonard and Marguerite Fitzgerald Thys. She attended St John's Catholic School in Victor and graduated from HLV High School in 1963. She continued her education at Kirkwood Community College earning an AA degree in Human Services. Judy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids with a BA degree in Social Work.

She was married to Terry Sloan in 1963. To this union one daughter, Annette, was born. They later divorced.

She was employed by HACAP in Cedar Rapids, then Families, Inc. in West Branch until her retirement due to health concerns. Judy also conducted workshops in Iowa as a child abuse consultant for the State Technical Assistance Training Team in Des Moines. In 1985, she received the State of Iowa Governor's volunteer award for her work at the Department of Correctional Services.
