THE PARIS NEWS, THURSDAY, MAY 8, 2014 - Anna Yarbrough Akard, 69 of Paris, passed away into the arms of Jesus on May 7, 2014, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Delta Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Gordon will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Akard was born in Cooper on Feb. 26, 1945, the fifth child of Tom and Virgie Yarbrough. She grew up in Cooper, Enloe and Pacio where she met Jerry Akard. They were married on May 31, 1964, and resided in Garland for ten years, then moved to Paris where they have been for 39 years.
A devoted Christian, she lived a holiness life. She was a member of the Johntown Holiness Church. She was a loving, caring, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Akard of Paris; daughter, Tammy Akard of Grand Prairie; son, Jeff Akard and his wife Amanda of Paris; four grandchildren, Jordan Akard and his fiancé, Tanya Ruiz of Irving, Tyler, Jacob and Addison Akard, all of Paris; and two great-grandsons, Isaiah and Isaac Akard of Irving; one brother, Pete Yarbrough; and three sisters, Cloie Sveen, Donna Kay Baker and Wanda Jean Merkley.
