Robert served as a Private First Class on Y1B-17 Flying Fortress #36-153, 96th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" when his Y1B-17 crashed over the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, while on a anti-submarine patrol from Langley Field, Virginia during the war.
