Margaret C. Wendel, 95, nee Burrer, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Ensrude officiating.
Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Beckmann Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday evening, Feb. 14.
Mrs. Wendel was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Adolph Burrer and Louise Schlaudt Burrer. She married Louis Wendel on July 8, 1939, in Zion Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death.
After living in San Antonio for 40 years, the Wendels moved back to Fredericksburg. She spent many hours with volunteer work at church.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, including Barbara and David Halm of Irvine, CA, and Marlyn and Dale Davis of Austin, and a son-in-law Drew Cavett of Boerne.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Flora Burrer, of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wendel was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Cavett; eight brothers and three sisters, including Hilmar Burrer, Albert Burrer, Harold Burrer, Edgar Burrer, Lawrence Burrer, Woerner Burrer, Randolph Burrer, Clinton Burrer, Tillie Kelch, Vila Schlaudt and Lina Burrer who died in infancy.
