"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 15, No 9, p 35, Aug. 5, 1858.

In Greenmanville, Ct., July 24th, Ruth Edmondson, wife of John Edmondson, aged 54 years, 11 months. Sister E. was born in Keswick, England, from whence she emigrated with her husband to this country. She experienced religion in England, united with the Methodist Church, and after coming to Greenmanville joined the Methodist Church in Mystic Bridge. Although not a conscientious observer of the Sabbath, yet as her family resided among us they were regular attendants on our Sabbath worship; an example worthy of imitation. Sister E. was a living Christian, and died in the full triumph of faith. The cause of her death was supposed to have been a tumor in the esophagus, which prevented her swallowing. She, therefore, literally starved to death after several weeks of severe suffering.

Her funeral was attended in Greenmanville Church by a large concourse of people, who were addressed by Rev. Mr. Kellen, pastor of the Methodist Church in the village. Sister E. died lamented, as she lived respected by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and three sons to mourn her decease.
