Daughter of Sarah Catherine (Macmurdo) and Col. Alfred Landon Rives was born during the Civil War. lst marriage 6/14/1888 John Armstrong Chandler but She shortly divorced him. On Feb. 18, 1896 she married Prince Pierre Troubetzbov of the Russian royal family. His painting of Gladstone is in the National Gallery at Edinburg with many of his collection of portrait paintings.She became renown as an authoress, novelist and playwright. Among her many works are:"The Quick or the Dead", "Barbara Dering","Athelwold","Selene" (a poem), "Trix and Over-the-Moon","World's End","As the Wind Blew","Firedamp" and the plays "Herod and Mariamne","The Fear Market","Allegiance", Love-in-a-Mist", "The Young Elizabeth" and many ,many others. There were no children.Aug. 23, 1863.
