Andrea Marie Cox, 40 of Cana, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Andrea was born in Radford, Virginia on March 5, 1974. She was a nurse at Baptist Hospital. Andrea was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Cox and her mother, Agnes Marie Carter.

Survivors include her fiancé and love of her life, Brent Hiatt of Cana; son, Jacob Trevan Cox of Cana; daughter and fiancé, Kelli Carter and Ronnie Hash of Galax; father and step-mother, Lester and Linda Carter of Austinville; grandchildren, Nathan Alexander and Maylea Hash; brothers and sister-in-law, Brian Carter and Ruthy Riffey of Austinville and Scott Carter of Radford; step sister, April Smith of Laurel Fork; step brother, Mel Frizzell of Norfolk; and special friends, Stacey Young and Kerry Crowley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Elder Harold Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
