Deceased Name: James Paul Raley

James Paul Raley, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Hermitage Care and Rehab Center. He was born March 25, 1930 in Henderson County to the late ake the Robert and Lillian Fannigan Raley. He worked with local 181 as an operating engineer for 35 years. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a Korean War Army Veteran. Mr. Raley enjoyed working on small engines and gardening.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Charles (Ed) Edward Raley and Robert N. Raley and two sisters Elizabeth Richison and Mildred Payne.

Survivors include his wife of 18.5 years, Virginia Thomas Raley, a son, Tom (Kathy) Payne of Owensboro, five daughters, Donna (Larry) Phillips of Owensboro, Brenda Roberts and Jerry Stearsman of Owensboro, Faye (Joe) Wathen of Rincon, GA., Sue (Bob) McCann of Murphysboro, IL., Shiela (Tim) Moore of Owensboro, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joe Raley of Minnesota, and a sister, Shirley Fulkerson of Stanley.

Services are at noon Thursday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with the Rev. John Meredith officiating and burial to follow in St. Augustine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis and Owensboro Funeral Home and from 10 A.M.-11:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Prayers said 7 P.M. Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Catholic Church Building Fund, 601 E. 23rd St. Owensboro, KY 42303. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral home.
