Clara Brown Perry was born May 29, 1948 in Magnolia, AR to Floyd Brown, Sr., and Flossie Mae Brown, who preceded her in death. She was the eighth of five brothers and four sisters. Six of her siblings preceded her in death.
In the late fifties her family moved from Arkansas to Uncertain, TX. After moving to TX, her mother married Earkins Burns of the Smithland, Judea Community and this union added an extended family of 12 additional brothers and sisters. Of her extended family, two preceded her in death, Edna Tatum and Willie Burns.
On November 8, 1961, she married Evans (Mann) Perry, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union six children were born. One child, Carolyn Perry, preceded her in death. Ms. Perry accepted Christ in her adult life and was baptized at Mt. Ridge Baptist Church, Karnack, TX. In 2011, she joined with the Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Marshall, TX, where she served faithfully until death.
Her joy of cooking led to a wonderful career in the Caddo Lake Restaurant community where she worked for various businesses. She worked at the Shady Glades Restaurant and Marina, the Flying Fish Lodge, Big Pine Lodge for 20 years, Bayou Landing Restaurant for 10 years and Cypress Cove Restaurant where she worked until she retired due to her health. She was known for her hush puppies and cole slaw.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Earl Stanley Perry (Charlotte), of Uncertain, TX (she considered Charlotte more of a daughter than a daughter-in-law), Tony Eugene Perry (Marion) of Uncertain, Texas, Billie Givens, Janice Brown, Evans Perry III, all of Marshall, TX, She is also survived by her brothers, Jim Brown of Spring Hill, LA, Rolester Brown of Texarkana, AR and one sister Lillie Pearl Brown of Karnack, TX. An extended family of brothers and sisters, Annie Chambers of Jefferson, TX, Lynda Jefferson (Donald) of College Station, TX, Cletta Walker (Quincy) of Jefferson, TX, Chester Burns (Billie), Ivory Burns (Barbara), Eddie Burns (Arleana) all of Jefferson, TX, Loretta Washington (Mike) of Marshall, TX, Nick Burns (Shelia) of New Waverley, TX, Raymond Burns (Stephanie) of Bryan, TX, Thomas Burns (Monica) of Longview, TX. She leaves 16 grandchildren and a niece, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Also her one and only favorite niece Linda Woolen, and Tiarra Cox her granddaughter whom she help raise who was always her shadow, and a special friend Ms. Linda Haggerty who she could call on at any time.
