Floyd Henry was the 5th child born in LaPrairie, Rock Co., WI. to Mary Jane(5/25/1872-2/4/1942) & Robert S. Lowry(1/28/1855 County Down,Ireland-11/1904)whose Irish roots were firmly established. His siblings included in order: Norman Robert, Bessie Ethel, twins Seth, twin Stanley, Hazel Mae, Walter E.,& Gladys Myrtle; They all lived/died in Janesville area except Bessie who married/died in California.
Floyd worked as a Laborer for the Janesville Machine Company from a young man and continued to live at home on Maine St. His siblings Stan worked at the Cotton Mills down by Rock River and Seth was doing carpentry for furniture construction. Sibling Hazel was employed by Janesville Parker Pen Company downtown. Walter was also employed doing cutter work for the Cotton Mills.
By 1930 he was living at Locust St. with siblings Seth and Gladys, with the siblings Stan and Seth who married living nearby his family by in Janesville.
Floyd was in the World War serving in the military police branch, Mil. Police BN WIS PVT 65 509.
Later in his adult years he was employed by the Oldsmobile Corp., Janesville. He especially enjoyed working/visiting along side of his nephew, Stanley at Lowry's Auto/Truck Repair business on Parker Drive in the 1950s.
He lived for a number of years at 111 Clark St., Janesville, with sister Gladys- Both of them never married. His tall,slim build was a natural gift to family members along with his jovial but quiet personality.
He was close to sister Hazel and Hazel nurtured/mentored Floyd and Gladys in their early years and final days as well.
A special Armed Forces shield decorates his gravesite where he rests under the big oak tree near his sister Gladys and his parents at Oakhill Cemetery.
The Lowry families tradition of Ireland roots continues strong-Floyd rests in eternal peace.
