S/Sgt. Millard Dewitt Adams was born February 25, 1922 in the northwestern part of Pulaski County, Kentucky. He attended the Weddle School, then the Eubank High School where he graduated in 1940. He had been in the Army for four years. He was killed in action on Leyte Island on December 10, 1944. His parents were notified of their son's death by the War Department on January 15, 1945. His remains arrived in Pulaski County, Kentucky on June 23, 1948 for reburial at the Science Hill Cemetery.

He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Adams; and his siblings, Perk Adams of Oil Center, Pulaski County, Kentucky, Garner Adams of Cincinnati, Ohio, Hoover Adams of Science Hill, Kentucky, Mary Randolph of Lockland, Ohio, Martha Whiles, Irby Proffitt, Pauline Hines of Arlington Heights, Ohio, Bina Hovick of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Eunema Adams of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 27, 1948 at the Science Hill Church of the Nazarene. Pulaski Post, American Legion, and Co. B. 149th Infantry, Kentucky National Guard were in charge of military funeral services. The Company B firing squad was present.
