James Hardin "Big Ace" Acey of Science Hill, Pulaski County, Kentucky, died at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was 70 years old.
He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former Science Hill Town Marshal and county patrolman. He was a driver and block maker for Hardwick Block and Tile in Science Hill. He was a member of Science Hill 10-20 CB Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was survived by his wife, Audrey M. (Smith) Acey (married November 8, 1949); his sons, Danny Acey of Somerset, Kentucky and James Hardin Acey, Jr. of Somerset, Kentucky; his daughters, Louise Dick of Science Hill, Kentucky, Debbie Taylor of Burnside, Kentucky, and Joann Knight of Russell Springs, Kentucky; his brothers, Bob Acey of Science Hill, Kentucky and Jake Acey of Cleves, Ohio; his sisters, Susie Massey of Somerset, Kentucky and Shirley Hodge of Somerset, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Walter Acey and Matilda Emerine (Wesley) Acey; his brothers, Clifford Acey and Clifton Acey; and his sisters, Nannie Acey and Viola Lock.
Funeral services were held at the chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Denney, Elder Morris Gaskin, and Brother Howard Prather officiating.
Burial was in Science Hill Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 38.
