ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Troy D. Cole, of 4627 Shepherd Hill, Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Rock Island, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. The Rev. Gabriel Barber will officiate. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Mr. Cole died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Doctors' Hospital, Wentzville, Mo., after an automobile accident. He was employed as an assistant, by the lieutenant governor of Missouri. He was a liaison with elderly people and residential facilities. While employed in the office, he displayed great leadership abilities in a promising political career. He also was an associate minister at Second Baptist Church, Jefferson City. He was born Aug. 24, 1971, in Rock Island, to Booker T. Cole Jr. and Barbara Ann Moore. He attended Rock Island and Bettendorf schools and graduated from Central Methodist College, Fayette, Mo., in 1993, with a bachelor's degree in political science. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Jefferson. He also was a member of Big Brothers, Jefferson City; did volunteer work with St. Louis Chapter, Sickle Cell Disease Association of America; and the United Negro College Fund. He enjoyed golf. He received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at age 13. Memorials may be made to United Negro College Fund. Survivors include his mother, Moscow Mills, Mo.; grandparents, Booker Cole Sr. and his wife Mary, Rock Island, and Katherine Tot, Davenport; a great-grandmother, Sallie Moore, Davenport; sisters, Chaunceia Mayfield, Florissant, Mo.; a brother, Sean Cole, and his spouse Laurie, Moscow Mills; nephews, Adam, Roman and Jordan; nieces, Chaunteia and Angelique; aunts, Thanolia "Nobie" Hudson and her husband Jimmie, Rock Island, Patricia Moore, Davenport, Jeanette Tot, Davenport, Carolyn Fallon, O'Fallon, Ill., Valerie Kiel and her husband Charles, Rock Island, and Gwen Humphries and her husband Bruce, Fairfield, Ohio; an uncle Johnny Tot, Davenport; and other cousins, relatives and very special friends. He was preceded in death by his father in 1988
