David Lane Minton, 63, of North Wilkesboro, NC, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

A memorial service in celebration of David's life and legacy will be held at First United Methodist Church of North Wilkesboro with Dr. Keith Franklin officiating on Friday, May 9, at 4:00pm. The family will receive friends in the Faith Center immediately following the service.

David was born in North Wilkesboro, NC, to Howard and Hazel Minton on December 6, 1950. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Teresa Campbell Minton, and his four children, Rebecca (Mark) Kucera of Charlotte NC, Kara Minton-Elmore, Erin Minton, and Holly Minton of North Wilkesboro. In addition, David leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Carter Elmore, Campbell Elmore, Kate Kucera, and Ethan Kucera. David is also survived by his siblings Jean Lancaster, Shirley (Richard) Faw, Sue (Alan) Ewing, Martha (Barry) Peeler, and Jim (Margaret) Minton and beloved aunt Coleen Bush.

David committed his life to his family and church, First United Methodist of North Wilkesboro, where he served as a Stephen's Minister. David was a member of the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club, a supporter of the Brushy Mountain Group Home and Wilkes ADAP, and an active volunteer of the Wacky Wednesday program at his church. He also enjoyed woodworking, home renovations, camping and was a voracious reader. David dedicated his life to his family and friends, and most enjoyed having them over for a weekend breakfast that he prepared.

David was educated at Wilkes Central High School and began working in his father's service station at a young age. He took this knowledge and worked diligently to create a successful auto repair business in North Wilkesboro. He purchased his father's Main Street Gulf Service Station in 1972 and later opened David's Car Care Center in 1985. He took pride in providing his customers and friends with quality auto repair and service.
