Born October 30, 1905, in Paris, Texas, she was a daughter of Michael Ira and Jennie Underhill Council.
Mrs. Townsend was reared and received her early education in Paris, Texas, and was a graduate of Paris High School. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1927 and lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Jess Boynton, while attending business school. Upon graduation she went to work as a secretary for the Cotton Belt Railroad. She married Bas Edward Townsend in 1934, in Wabbaseka. She moved to Stuttgart in 1998.
Bonnie was a secretary, a housewife, and a mother. She loved to dance, visit with her friends, and she loved her family. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and a Sunday School teacher for the Wesley Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Pine Bluff Garden Club.
Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred Edward and Mary Ann Townsend of Stuttgart; one grandson and grandaughter-in-law, Dr. Michael Edward and Dee Townsend of Daytona Beach, Florida; two grandaughters and grandsons-in-law, Tracie Ann and Keith Snider of Lexington, TN, and Ginger Dale and Lester Long of Westfork, AR; nine great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Jake, Mitchell, Haley and Whitney Townsend, Lauren and Sydney Snider, and Calli and Joshua Long.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in Graceland Cemetery with Reverend Timothy C. Reeves officiating and under the direction of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
