Maurice M. May, 101, of Buchanan, MI passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Northwest Health in Laporte, IN.
A Celebration of life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Swem Chapel and Cremation Service, 301 W. Front St., in Buchanan with Pastor Randy Pierman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the funeral home. Maurice was born December 31, 1919 in Albion, IN to Harold & Nina (Metcalf) May. Maurice worked for Electro Voice for many years. On January 10, 1953 he married Ruth Miller in Niles, MI. Maurice was a lifelong member of the F.&A.M. 68 Buchanan Masonic Lodge and was on the Buchanan Twp. Fire Department for over 60 years. In his younger years he helped build fighter planes for the war. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his yard and painting ceramics.
Maurice is survived by his son Michael May; daughter Kathleen (Ronald) Bush; grandchildren Chevon, Micki, Keri and Laura; step grandchildren Gabe and Persephone; 9 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and brother Harold "Bud" May.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 7 siblings
