Felix Hintemeyer, OSB, was born in 1862 and entered St. Vincent's Archabbey as a novice in 1880. He became a monk of the newly organized Mary Help of Christians (Belmont) Abbey and was ordained a priest in 1886. He ultimately served as Vicar General of the Abbey Diocese and Prior of Belmont Abbey. Father Prior Felix died in Naples, Italy, 28 June 1924, while traveling to Rome for the required quinquennial visit ad limina apostolorum on behalf of his ailing Abbot, Bishop Leo Haid, OSB. He was buried on July 2nd at the Archabbey of Monte Cassino, the motherhouse of the Order of St. Benedict. Receiving news of the death, Abbot Bishop Leo ordered a solemn Requiem Mass to be sung in the Belmont Abbey Cathedral by Father Melchoir Reichert,OSB, assisted by Fathers Thomas Oestreich and Maurus Buchheit, on 30 July 1924, and a stone in the Prior's memory placed in the Belmont Abbey cemetery.
