LUKACHUKAI — Graveside services for Addie B. Yazzie, 84, will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 21 at the Lukachukai community cemetery. Arthur Yazzie will officiate.

Yazzie died April 15 in Grand Junction, Colo. She was born Jan. 1, 1913 in Kayenta, Ariz. into the Coyote Pass People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.

Yazzie was a rugweaver. She enjoyed her grandchildren and telling stories of her life and youth.

Survivors include her sons, Ben Yazzie, William A. Yazzie, both of Wheatfields, Dennis Yazzie of Ganado, Ansoh D. Yazzie of Coyote Canyon, Gabriel A. Yazzie of Tsaile; daughters, Elsie Paquin, Hazel Y. James, Marian Begay all of Tsaile, Marie Yazzie of Navajo, Nora A. Yazzie of Blue Gap; sister, Betty Rogers of Page, Ariz.; 61 grandchildren, 144 great-grandchildren and 47 great-great-grandchildren.

Yazzie was preceded in death by her husband, A. Yazzie; brothers, Ray Kenny, Sr., Harrey Kenny, John Harvey and son, John Tulley Yazzie.

Pallbearers will be Felix Yazzie, John Jones, Jr., Gabriel A. Yazzie, Edwin Johnson, Derren Wauneka and Alex James.

The family will receive relatives and friends 1/4 mile west of Wheatfields.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
