Grace Thurston Arnold Albee

She studied painting & drawing at the RI School of design between 1910-1912. Grace and Percy met at RISD.

The family moved to France in 1928 where Grace studied wood engraving and where she also had a solo exhibition of her work in Paris in 1932. The family returned to the US in 1933 and moved around living in Doylestown, PA, NY City and returned to RI in 1974.

A retrospective of 80 of her works was held at the Brooklyn Art Museum in 1976, and the National Museum of Women in Arts had a show of her work in 1999. Her works are held in the Library of Congress, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Design, The Newport Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum.

*cemetery note: A descendant says she is the daughter of Susie Arabella Thurston
