Joanne M. Cox was born April 15, 1929, and died after a long illness Friday, May 2, 2014, at Lake Regional Hospital.

Joanne was married in Monmouth, Ill., Aug. 29, 1952, to Robert L. Cox. He passed away in 1975.

Joanne worked in food service in Iowa and Missouri, most recently for the School of the Osage, until her health declined in 2006.

She is survived by three children, Lutie (Steve) Goodyear and Rick Cox, both of Marion, and Robyn (Dwayne) Overly of Lake Ozark, Mo.; grandchildren, Stephanie Goodyear and Dario, Jaime and Craig Overly.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and a sister.

After a stroke in 2006, Joanne resided at Osage Beach Care Center. Joanne enjoyed working with her plants, playing games and the Green Bay Packers.

Joanne's wishes were to be cremated and buried with her husband at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill. There will be a family service at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, in Rock Island.

In lieu of flowers, please add to the Osage Beach Care Center resident activity fund, 844 Passover Rd., Osage Beach, MO 65065. Joanne considered this her home for the past seven years. After short trips, Joanne always wanted to get back to be with the staff and residents.

We thank the care center for all the years they took care of our mother and friend.
