Catherine Marie (Kate) Ellis, 92, formerly of Beaver Place, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Murphy) McDonald.
Catherine graduated from Danville High School in 1940 and then went to work in the food service department at Danville State Hospital until her retirement. Catherine loved having a good time, and she enjoyed going to the Danville Legion with her grandchildren. She was a square dancer for a short period of time, and she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Danville American Legion and VFW.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Vincent Magaro who died in 1954; and Howard Ellis who died in 1975; her son, Vincent Magaro Jr.; her brothers: Bill McDonald, Francis McDonald, Michael McDonald; and a sister, Greta Campbell.
Catherine is survived by a son, Randolph Magaro, of Texas; two daughters: Kathleen Knarr of Danville; and Helen Bastian and her husband, Ron, of Muncy; five grandchildren: Ronald Knarr and his wife, Carol, of Ocean City, Md.; Kimberly Mollica of Elimsport; Nicolette Reich and her husband, Tim, of Millmont; Jason Magaro and his wife, Stacie of Louisiana; and Jackie Magaro-Rose of Wyoming; four great-grandchildren: Katelynn and Emily Mollica of Milton; Kayla and RJ Reich of Millmont, one brother, Charles McDonald, and his wife, Linda, of Illinois; and a sister, Mary Alice Shuler, of Riverside. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you donate to the Special Olympics Pennsylvania at 2750 Blvd. of the Generals, Suite 124, Norristown, PA 19403. Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, is entrusted with the arrangements
