Shirley Ann Hendrix, 82, of Richmond, MO, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on August 1, 1931 in Ray County, MO to Raymond and Thelma (Baker) Lee. She married Melvin G. Hendrix of Knoxville, MO on September 11, 1946; he survives of the home. They lived an adventurous life traveling to dad's baseball games and trap shooting. Additional survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Lynn and Tami Hendrix of Richmond and Timothy Lee and Penny Hendrix of Richmond; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Sue and Dean Milligan of Richmond and Patty Ann and Jim Wright of Richmond; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, LaVeta Lee. Shirley was owner and operator of several businesses in Richmond over the years, 10-13 Restaurant, the Front Porch and the Highlander Laundry Mat. Shirley was a waitress most of her life. Shirley's life revolved around her children and grandchildren's school and sports life, never missing a game or an opportunity to meet new friends. She was a member of the St. Paul Christian Union Church in Knoxville. Shirley was a lifelong Ray County Resident. She was an avid bingo fan. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
