Barnes, Dorman Blair; age 88; of Edmore; passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014; at Masonic Pathways in Alma. Dorman was born on August 18, 1925 in Dearborn, the son of Fred Charles and Hazel Mattie (Ferguson) Barnes. He was raised in the Evert area and graduated from the Evert Public High School in 1943. Dorman served his country in the US Army as a Military Police Sergeant from 1946 to 1950. He was stationed in Japan, Camp McCoy and Ft. Benjamin- Harrison during the Korean War. Dorman married Nina Ruth Bowman on December 4, 1948 in Reed City, Michigan. Dorman was employed in the management of the Aunt Jane's Pickle Plant for 10 years and as a custodian at Montabella Schools for 10 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Edmore Masonic Lodge 360 and the Edmore VFW Post 2292. Dorman enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dorman is survived by his wife, Nina. Dorman was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hazel; and a sister, Layola Holmes. A Funeral Service to celebrate Dorman's life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson Street, Edmore with Pastor Aaron Sorrels officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (from 10 to 11 a.m.). Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Evert at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorman's name may be made payable to the Masonic Lodge 360. 524 E. Forest Street, Edmore, Michigan, 48829.
